About this role

Accountabilities: Develop, enhance, and maintain macOS endpoint security components using modern C++, Swift, and Objective-C++. Implement security capabilities that monitor file, process, network, and identity activities to detect and prevent malicious behavior. Design and maintain solutions using macOS System Extensions, Endpoint Security APIs, Network Extensions, and interprocess communication mechanisms. Build high-performance, concurrent, and reliable software while optimizing CPU utilization, memory consumption, and overall system performance. Investigate and resolve complex technical issues through debugging, crash analysis, logging, profiling, and performance testing. Develop automated tests and contribute to continuous integration pipelines to maintain software quality and reliability. Collaborate with cross-platform engineering teams working on shared codebases supporting macOS, Windows, and Linux. Ensure compatibility across Apple Silicon and Intel-based Mac systems. Contribute to secure software architecture, code quality improvements, and production stability. Support the development, testing, packaging, and deployment of security components across macOS environments. Requirements: 6–10 years of professional software engineering experience, with more experienced candidates also welcome. Strong hands-on expertise in modern C++, particularly C++17 or C++20, and proficiency in Swift, including Swift 6, async/await, actors, and strict concurrency. Experience with Objective-C++ and integrating Swift, C++, and C APIs. Strong knowledge of macOS systems programming, including Foundation, CoreFoundation, Grand Central Dispatch (GCD), pthreads, POSIX/BSD APIs, and Mach IPC. Familiarity with launchd daemons and agents, XPC C APIs, and NSXPCConnection. Experience using Instruments, os_signpost, LLDB, crash log analysis, and os_log for debugging and performance optimization. Knowledge of XCTest, sanitizers, fuzz testing, and xcodebuild-based continuous integration workflows. Experience developing and maintaining large, performance-sensitive codebases across multiple operating systems. Practical expertise in at least one or more of the following macOS security areas: Endpoint Security and System Extensions: Endpoint Security clients, authorization and notification events, user/MDM approval, and extension upgrades. Network Security: Network Extension content filters, NEFilterDataProvider, NEFilterPacketProvider, and Network.framework. Process Management and IPC: launchd services, daemons, agents, XPC, and interprocess communication. Security and Cryptography: Code-signature verification, certificate validation, Keychain, entitlements, hardened runtime, and macOS privacy permissions. Devices and Storage: IOKit, hardware enumeration, DiskArbitration, and disk or volume event management. Packaging and Deployment: macOS installers, application notarization, and MDM configuration profiles using Jamf, Microsoft Intune, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of concurrency, memory management, operating-system internals, and production software reliability. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on complex technical challenges. Strong collaboration and communication skills, particularly when working with distributed engineering teams. Additional experience with SwiftUI, AppKit, application extensions, macOS beta testing, endpoint detection and response (EDR), antivirus (AV), network security, or device-management products is highly desirable. Must be authorized to work in the United States. W2 contract engagement only; F1 OPT candidates are not eligible. Must be available to work during Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours and accommodate prompt interview scheduling. Benefits: Competitive contract compensation, with an expected hourly rate discussed during the recruitment process. Fully remote working arrangement within the United States. Opportunity to work on advanced endpoint security and cybersecurity technologies. Exposure to complex macOS systems programming and large-scale security engineering challenges. Collaboration with experienced engineers working across multiple operating systems and technical disciplines. Opportunity to deepen expertise in endpoint protection, operating-system security, and high-performance software development. Contract engagement with a focus on technically challenging and impactful projects.
