Accountabilities: Lead the end-to-end corporate accounting function, overseeing financial close, consolidation, reporting, compliance, audit, tax, and accounting systems. Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across U.S. and international entities, maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and continuous process improvement. Prepare and oversee consolidated financial statements under U.S. GAAP, including intercompany eliminations, multi-currency consolidation, and technical accounting assessments. Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to executive leadership, the Board, investors, and other relevant stakeholders. Own the external audit relationship and coordinate audit activities to ensure efficient, high-quality, and timely completion across applicable jurisdictions. Maintain and strengthen the internal control environment, developing scalable and audit-ready accounting infrastructure appropriate for a rapidly growing organization. Manage compliance requirements related to sales, use, and property taxes across multiple states and international jurisdictions. Monitor compliance with bank covenants, investor reporting requirements, and other financial obligations. Lead the accounting technology roadmap, including optimization of NetSuite and evaluation and implementation of AI-enabled accounting tools. Identify opportunities to automate close, reconciliation, reporting, and other accounting workflows, reducing manual effort while increasing analytical value. Partner with FP&A, Engineering, Operations, and other functions on accounting and financial systems integration. Manage, mentor, and develop an accounting team of approximately 4–8 employees, including the Assistant Controller, while fostering accountability and career growth. Serve as a trusted financial and accounting advisor to leaders across Sales, Product, Operations, Legal, HR, and other business functions. Partner with the CFO on M&A, debt financing, tax strategy, investor relations, and other strategic financial initiatives. Collaborate with external tax advisors on tax provisions, filings, compliance, and strategic planning. Continuously evaluate accounting processes and policies, introducing improvements that support scalability, efficiency, and transaction readiness. Requirements 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership position. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience. CPA certification required. Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including financial consolidation, intercompany transactions, revenue recognition under ASC 606, and accounting for international subsidiaries. Demonstrated experience operating in a high-growth, multi-entity environment and building accounting systems and processes designed to scale. Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing accounting teams. Strong experience with financial close, consolidated reporting, internal controls, audit management, compliance, and technical accounting. Proficiency with NetSuite and advanced skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets. Strong understanding of accounting technology, automation, and modern financial systems, with the ability to identify practical opportunities for AI-enabled process improvement. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex accounting matters into clear business recommendations. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with executives and non-finance stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to operate with autonomy, urgency, sound judgment, and accountability in an evolving environment. Experience supporting due diligence, M&A, private equity investment, debt financing, IPO preparation, or other significant corporate transactions is highly valued. Experience in service-based, field operations, technology-enabled services, SaaS, clean energy, renewable energy, or sustainability-focused businesses is a plus. Hands-on experience implementing AI tools or automation within accounting workflows is advantageous. Big Four or national accounting firm audit experience is a plus. International accounting experience, particularly involving Australia or other English-speaking jurisdictions, is beneficial. Ability to work remotely within the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
