About this role
Accountabilities:: As a Senior AI Software Engineer, you will design and deliver AI-powered development capabilities while ensuring that generated software remains secure, testable, and ready for deployment. Your responsibilities will include: AI-Driven Development Workflows: Build intelligent workflows that help users create, package, validate, maintain, and prepare mission applications for deployment. AI Agent Orchestration: Develop systems that combine AI reasoning with deterministic tools, automated validation, and human oversight to deliver dependable outcomes. Secure Execution Environments: Create isolated development environments for running AI agents and building software securely. Cloud-Native Integration: Integrate Kubernetes, UDS packaging, containers, and software delivery tools into automated development workflows. Application State and Workflow Management: Build systems that manage persistent application state, asynchronous execution, and complex development processes. Automated Testing and Validation: Develop testing and validation capabilities that verify generated software and packaged applications for security, reliability, and deployability. Technical Design and Architecture: Own the design, implementation, testing, and delivery of complex features while contributing to architectural decisions across product components. Problem-Solving and Debugging: Investigate and resolve complex technical issues involving Kubernetes, virtualization, storage, networking, and operating systems. Reliability and Performance: Improve software security, performance, observability, maintainability, and operational resilience. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Product, UX, Engineering, and end users to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguity, and translate challenging problems into effective solutions. Code Quality and Mentorship: Review code, mentor teammates, share technical knowledge, and promote strong engineering practices. Technical Documentation: Document architectural decisions and implementation details while communicating clearly across teams. Continuous Improvement: Adapt to evolving product priorities and contribute to the development of engineering practices as the platform grows. Requirements: The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with strong systems knowledge, practical AI integration experience, and the ability to deliver complex solutions independently. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity and balancing innovation with security, reliability, and maintainability. Required and preferred qualifications include: At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong proficiency in a modern programming language, with Go and TypeScript preferred. Experience designing, building, and operating production software products. Practical experience integrating large language models (LLMs), AI agents, or AI-powered capabilities into software applications. Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, and application architecture. Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native application development. Experience building reliable, testable systems using automated validation and CI/CD pipelines. Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, resolve ambiguity, and independently deliver complex engineering solutions. Strong communication, collaboration, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Preferred additional experience: Building AI agent orchestration systems, coding agents, or AI-powered developer tools. Familiarity with LLM evaluation, tool calling, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and agent execution frameworks. Experience with secure sandboxing, isolated execution environments, or Kata Containers. Developing developer platforms, command-line interfaces (CLIs), or software development automation. Familiarity with Zarf, Helm, Kubernetes operators, or software packaging workflows. Experience with software supply chain security, artifact validation, and deployment automation. Developing software for air-gapped, regulated, or otherwise restricted environments. Contributions to open-source projects or developer tooling. U.S. citizenship is required because the employer is a contractor supporting the U.S. government.
