You'll be joining a team powered by Takealot Group's core values. </p> <p><strong>Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel</strong></p> <p><strong>Your responsibilities will include: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Draft, review and assist with the negotiation of various commercial contracts on behalf of the Takealot Group businesses, eg <a href="http://takeal.com">Takealot.com</a> and MrD.</li> <li>Update and improve template documents</li> <li>Advise on and attend to dispute resolution and general litigation matters</li> <li>Advise on and attend to employment law matters</li> <li>Advise on and attend to franchise network legal matters</li> <li>Advise on and attend to banking and finance legal matters</li> <li>Manage the Takealot Group’s intellectual property portfolio and assist with the settlement of intellectual property disputes</li> <li>Monitor and advise on new legal developments affecting the Takealot Group</li> <li>Conduct legal research, draft legal opinions, and provide legal advice to the <a href="http://takealot.com">Takealot.com</a> and MrD, as required </li> <li>Provide and/or facilitate training</li> <li>Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders of <a href="http://takealot.com">Takealot.com</a> and MrD primarily and to the Group, as and when required</li> <li>Assist to mentor and develop other legal team members </li> <li>Assist with the design, implementation, and management of software and AI technology, and their standard operating procedures (SOPs), to aid the delivery of legal services to <a href="http://takealot.com">Takealot.com</a> and MrD that is scalable to the Group</li> <li>Support the legal team as required</li> </ul> <p><strong>Attributes:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proactive with a consistently positive attitude</li> <li>Team player</li> <li>Good drafting skills</li> <li>Ability to work hard independently and within a team</li> <li>Ability to prioritise numerous competing tasks and meet deadlines</li> <li>Ability to communicate well orally and in writing</li> <li>Strong planning and organisational skills</li> <li>Detail-orientated whilst remaining practical</li> <li>Good working knowledge of South African law in general</li> </ul> <p> <strong>Qualifications & Experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>LLB, admitted attorney or advocate in South Africa</li> <li>5-8 years post-admission experience at the bar, a well-established law firm, or in the in-house legal department of a large corporate</li> <li>Experience in corporate and commercial law is essential, and particularly in drafting and reviewing contracts </li> <li>Experience leading and/or mentoring legal professionals</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in e-commerce or retail would be ideal</li> </ul> <p><strong>Why Join TFS:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Purpose-driven impact</strong>: Transform lives through logistics innovation</li> <li><strong>Advanced technology: </strong>Work with cutting-edge systems in a fast-paced environment</li> <li><strong>Career growth: </strong>Thrive in an agile space that champions continuous improvement</li> <li><strong>Inclusive culture</strong>: Your unique perspective drives extraordinary results</li> </ul> <p>At TFS, your growth is our growth.
