This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer to be based in our Chelmsford, MA, Boston, MA, or New York, NY office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line.This position is expected to begin June 2027, but that date is flexible.Job Overview:The Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer will work with a diverse team of engineers, project managers and technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services in New England.The job responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:Support planning, design, construction, and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure and best management practices (BMPs), low impact development projects, and green infrastructure practicesPerform field work including environmental sampling and parameter collection, stormwater BMP inspection, BMP retrofit assessments and stream evaluationsPrepare construction documents, engineering reports, and basic data and scientific documents regarding stormwater, water quality, watershed management, and best management practicesSupport hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling, and geospatial evaluationsPrepare written and graphic reportsBuild analytic and design skillsConduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineerCreate designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineerCollect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineerUse computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problemsPerform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision Minimum Requirements BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological/Agricultural Engineering, or related fieldDue to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is requiredValid U.S Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must pass the AECOM Motor Vehicle screeningAbility to travel locally, including occasional extended travelPreferred Qualifications General knowledge of basic civil and environmental engineering principles with an understanding of hydrology and hydraulics, fluvial processes, construction techniquesProficiency in standard Microsoft Office suite software applicationsGeneral knowledge of water resources engineering tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMSGeneral knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicrostationAbility to perform complex engineering calculations as directedAttention to detail in work; high quality and accuracy in work performedAbility to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employeesAbility to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise mannerAbility to learn through on-the-job experienceStrong analytical and computational abilitiesHighly motivated and capable of working effectively in a team environmentEngineer-in-training certification within six months of employment Relocation is not available for this position.Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this positionAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
