About this role
We are looking for a Database Engineering Intern to work on the data layer of our production software. You will work alongside the developer who owns our data layer on data modelling, query optimisation and documentation. Our stack is PostgreSQL, Supabase, PostgREST and row-level security, with TypeScript, React, Vite, Vitest, Deno edge functions and GitHub Actions around it. Every change goes through a pull request with automated type, lint, format, build and test checks. Duration: 6 months; Start: flexible Tasks Get familiar with our database structures and document how they are modelled. Analyse table and column usage and prepare migrations where structures are no longer needed. Improve our data models : reduce duplicated values and work with references and views. Optimise data access so that more work happens in the database and less in the application. Measure query performance and add indexes where they make a difference. Review our database access policies. Requirements You are studying computer science, data engineering or something similar. Comfortable in SQL : joins, aggregates, indexes, and reading a query plan. You are happy to spend time reading existing code before changing it. PostgreSQL specifics (indexing strategies, EXPLAIN, constraints, triggers) and experience with Supabase or a similar API-over-Postgres layer are a plus. Coursework or a project in data modelling and normalisation . Experience with AI-assisted development tools . Humble, low ego , not afraid to get your hands dirty. Get things done mentality : prioritising results over process. Fluent in English, German is a plus. Benefits Scaling from 0 to 1 : you shape how this company works, from the processes to the team around you. Work as a full team member of an interdisciplinary team of top performers that will both support and challenge your growth. Lunch allowance , a subsidized sports membership and modern tech. A new office in Garching , right on top of our own production floor. Vetaion is building a fully automated production facility for control cabinets in Munich. We use digital twins and robotics to automate the manufacturing process, orchestrated by VetaionOS, our own operating system for the factory. Our mission is to strengthen Germany as a leading industrial hub. Join our team and our mission, let's reinvent the future of production together! Find Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow
